Subject:                          FW: Friday seed

Everyone,

"First's" seems to be the theme of this week:

Yesterday afternoon was the first staff meeting held at the property next door, which the school had only completed acquiring that morning! We were extremely fortunate that the Hand family (former parents) gave us first option to purchase their house so that it could become the future home for our growing high school and provide a wonderful eurythmy room for the entire school. (Read more in next week's Seed.) I also want to thank the parents of Grades 1 and 2 who provided the delicious meal for that meeting.

Last night's Parent Council meeting was the first of the year and extremely well attended--extra chairs had to brought in!  It is going to be an exciting year and the monthly Parent Council meetings are the perfect place to keep up to date with events and emerging plans.  It is also  a great way for new families to quickly learn about the community life of the school.

Next week the first session of the Parent & Child group will take place on Friday, September 10th.  Please register with the office by Thursday so Claire will know how many will be coming-the form is on the website. It will be held in in the basement of the new administration building.

The Parent Handwork group will also be meeting in the basement-- watch here for an announcement of their first Wednesday date. They are in need of storage and a heavy-duty, boltable dog or baby gate for the stairwell.  Contact Gina Wahbeh at ginasw@cox.net, if you have anything that could help.

The Festival committee (working group) is looking for help with the first festival of the year--Michaelmas to be held on Oct 14th

                They are looking for:

        1)      A Grill master to cook the hot dogs and hamburgers.  We need a grill or two to cook on as well

        2)      2  Pop up shade tents to serve the food under

        3)      Volunteers to help with the field activities. Please sign up for this with your class parent.

If you can help with any of these please contact Narsingh Khalsa

                Familyborn@hotmail.com or 602 253 6330

As always, please remember to check the Calendar on the website. Upcoming events include:

Saturday, September 4th -  Garden Workday  starting 7:00 a.m.

Monday, September 6th – No School Labor Day

8th grade Knit-A-Thon ends.  Be sure that you have sponsored an eighth grader!

Saturday, September 11th -                New Parent Orientation  8:30 a.m.

Early Childhood parent morning  10:00 a.m.

Lastly, I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. See you back at school on Tuesday.
