Animal Care
It is with a sad note that we inform our
community that Jonic the Pig passed away over the Christmas break.
She was more than 30 years old. Jonic offered us many gifts -
learning about pigs and their cantankerous nature, patience, and
overcoming fear of things we don't understand. Jonic was loved
by all of us and is a character that is truly missed in our barnyard.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Amy Weibel (Baker) at
602.237.2186, 602.373.6344, or acweibel@msn.com.
As you work to meet your New Year's resolution of
cleaning out sheds or garages, please keep in mind that Animal Care will be
very happy to take off your hands wheelbarrows, rakes, and large shovels.
Remember that donations to the school can be tax deductible!
Thanks!
Community Farm Project
You probably will have noticed the newly created irrigation basins in the southwest corner of the property beyond the parking area. These will be used for crops as a part of the Community Farm Project involving the high school. A tractor for working the fields was funded by the grant from the Gila River Indian Community, which we are in the process of selecting. We are also planning for some overflow parking for events as a part of the reorganization of that area.
2010 Tax Credit Deadline Clarification
Thank you to everyone who has done their 2010 Tax Credit Donations, these are so important to the school's financial health. We do need to clarify that while the payment date was extended for private school donations, it remains December 31st for all public and charter schools. If you were still planning to make a 2010 Tax Credit donation, but thought you had more time, please contact Jamie Shaver in the office.
Congratulations to the Osborne family, who were the winner of the pair of hand knitted socks, courtesy of our handwork program which is supported by our tax credit program, for bringing in the largest amount of tax credits in December!
